Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Poma Camera (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (“App”). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple-provided user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address. Apple may provide a private relay email address instead of your actual email.
  • Photos. When you capture or select a photo within the App, the photo is stored locally on your device and, if you enable iCloud sync, in your private iCloud container.
  • User-Generated Content. Poems, captions, titles, and any edits you make are stored alongside your photos.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information. We may collect general device information such as device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers as necessary for app functionality.
  • Location Information. If you grant permission, we use your device’s location to add location names to your photos via reverse geocoding. Location data is processed on-device and is not transmitted to our servers except as part of the photo metadata you choose to store.
  • Image Classification Data. We use Apple’s on-device Vision framework to generate descriptive labels for your photos. This processing occurs entirely on your device.
  • Purchase Information. We receive transaction records from Apple for in-app purchases and subscriptions you make. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

1.3 Information Processed by Third Parties

  • AI Image Analysis. When you generate a poem, your photo is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API for processing. Anthropic processes the image to generate poetry and does not use your images to train AI models. As an API customer, Anthropic automatically deletes inputs and outputs (including your photos) from their systems within 30 days of receipt. Anthropic’s data handling is governed by their Privacy Policy and API terms of service.
  • Backend Services. We use Supabase as a backend service for authentication and credit management. Your Apple-provided user identifier and authentication tokens are transmitted to Supabase to manage your account and credits.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App’s functionality
  • Authenticate your identity and manage your account
  • Generate poems from your photos using AI services
  • Process in-app purchases and manage your credit balance
  • Sync your content across your devices via iCloud (if enabled)
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Store Your Information

  • On-Device Storage. Photos, poems, and related content are stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework.
  • iCloud Sync. If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your private Apple iCloud container, subject to Apple’s privacy policy.
  • Keychain. Authentication tokens and API keys are stored securely in your device’s Keychain.
  • Backend. Your user identifier, authentication session, and credit balance are stored on our backend infrastructure (Supabase).

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers. We use third-party services (Anthropic, Supabase, Apple) to operate the App. These providers only receive information necessary to perform their services and are bound by their own privacy policies.
  • Legal Requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Business Transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • With Your Consent. We may share information with your explicit consent, such as when you choose to share a poem card via the share sheet.

5. Data Retention

  • Your photos and poems remain on your device and/or iCloud until you delete them.
  • Account and credit information is retained on our backend for as long as you maintain an account.
  • You may delete your account and associated data at any time through the App’s settings.

6. Your Rights and Choices

  • Account Deletion. You can delete your account and all associated server-side data through the App’s settings.
  • Photo and Poem Deletion. You can delete individual photos and poems from within the App at any time.
  • iCloud Sync. You can enable or disable iCloud sync at any time in the App’s settings.
  • Location Access. You can revoke location permissions at any time through your device’s Settings.
  • Camera Access. You can revoke camera permissions at any time through your device’s Settings.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection laws (such as the GDPR or CCPA), including the right to access, correct, or port your data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

8. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including the use of Apple’s Keychain for secure credential storage and encrypted communications with third-party services. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last Updated” date and, where appropriate, providing notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
